Stream Engagement with UE5

For the past 2 years, we've been developing systems to allow us to use Twitch alert data to trigger changes, animations and custom interactions within Unreal Engine 5. Originally designed to not only increase engagement, organic brand visibility and revenues, but also to address viewership dropoff for scenes where creators are away from their camera, this all new approach gives creators and brands their own custom environment or mini game for new levels of audience interaction replacing traditional stream overlays.

How do we do it?

Using Unreal Engine 5's unique blueprint system, we take data from Twitch associated with events and commands, plug it into Unreal and use it as the trigger for custom changes within our environments and mini games. We're also able to tie these interactions to commercial data including website purchases and code usage to drive sales and organically represent brands within these spaces. This leads to more engagement, more revenue for creators and more sales for brands. Find out more about Unreal's Blueprints here.

Replacing traditional scenes and stream overlays with these game builds also has a huge impact on viewer retention, giving them a fun way to engage with the stream long term with interactions persisting in the environment over time.

Meg Turney

Welcome to the "Mischief Arcade". A custom built, retro Arcade inspired, interactive environment for Meg Turney. Spawn gifts, alter the environment & search for Easter eggs.

Lolipop G

Our fantastical waterfall environment for Yogscast member Lolipo G, features wildlife and a gushing waterfall spawning items related to Twitch events.

HowToBeQuiet

Driving along an infinite road, viewers use monetary events & channel points to disrupt his truck's progress with the sole aim of destruction. Watch out for the mayo....

GSXR Clyde

This custom themed environment inspired by Bungie's epic shooter Destiny 2, features Clyde's notorious hammer and a whole host of interactions tied to Twitch alerts and commands.

Gladd

The first of it's kind, this fully fleshed out Hamster Battle Royale mini game allows chat to spawn hamsters, power ups and obstacles in a fight to the bitter end. Level up your Hamster and take the crown.

The Mavshow

Mav's whimsical custom theatre build, flooded with glitter and unicorns, allows viewers to directly interact through gifting subs, dropping roses through cheering and a way too cute Unicorn raid.

Unreal Video Showcases

Meg Turney

Meg tasked us with creating a retro arcade environment packed full of interactions for her viewers to enjoy. Her audience can spawn gifts into the space, tied to their Twitch account, which gives a long term reward to the viewer with their tag displayed on the gift box and even custom wrapping paper for each event type.

Viewers can also redeem channel points to change Pablo the rat's hat, use hidden commands to trigger Easter eggs tied to Meg's community and even display her latest merch range. This is the 3rd environment we created for Meg with Summer featuring a fully fleshed out boardwalk arcade.

LolipopG

Yogcast member LolipopG came to us with a unique idea of a gushing waterfall in a fantastical forest environment with the aim being for viewers to be able to interact by using monetary events to trigger different items to fall into the environment.

Viewers are able to trigger fireworks, spawn gift boxes, change the time of day and even fire a truck out of the waterfall using channel point redemptions.

Loli has seen some of the best results from one of these builds, structuring it heavily into her stream and using the additional revenue to constantly update the interactions and keep it fresh for her viewers.

HowToBeQuiet

HowToBeQuiet is very fond of his truck. So much so he wants his viewers to be able to destroy it through channel point redemptions and monetary events.

Rolling on an infinite road, viewers are able to spawn obstacles into the environment with the sole aim of pure destruction. With deliberately "janky" physics, this fun build allows HTBQ's audience to directly interact with his stream when he's away from camera and he's seen great success with additional engagement and revenues from this unique addition to his stream.

The question is do you choose ramps, orbital bombardments or mayonnaise to hamper his progress?

GSXR Clyde

Clyde is one of the biggest creators solely focused on streaming Bungie's flagship title Destiny 2. With that in mind, we created a custom environment inspired by the world of the Traveller featuring key moments and items from the game including engrams, glimmer, Clyde's mighty hammer and even waking the Hive.

Viewers can donate and subscribe to spawn glimmer (the currency from the game) and engrams used to house the unique items in Destiny 2. We also created a whole host of themed Easter eggs that chat can discover through hidden commands including a Saint-14 statue, environmental transitions and a full screen take over by Destiny's main new boss the Witness. Gladd

Over the years, Gladd has become famous for his hamster mascot "Hammy". He came to us with the request of creating a mini game that allows his viewers to have fun and interact with the stream during intermission periods where he's chilling with his community.

The result is bigger than we expected, with our most complex build to date yet. Hamster Wars. Viewers use commands to spawn hamsters into the environment, tied to their Twitch username, and the Hamsters fight, claw and climb their way to the top. Levelling up by picking up power ups and taking out other hamsters.

To add to the chaos his audience can spawn rockets, lightning and even branded power ups from one of his main sponsors Advanced.gg giving organic brand visibility to his commercial partners.

The Mavshow

We've been working with Mav for 3 years and her cute and whimsical style worked perfectly for her glitter and unicorn themed theatre environment. The Mavshow has truly come to life with this build which features live "in built" chat, and a variety of interactions for her audience to engage with.

They can spawn in gifts through Twitch's gifted subs system, throw roses at Mav through cheering and even trigger a unicorn raid, taking over the theatre when triggered.

This is our latest release and we can't wait to see the results Mav gets from the project, and to continue to build in future interactions to keep her stream fresh for her highly engaged viewer base.
